Explore The Outdoors with WJCT and PBS Kids

April 29, 2017 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

On Saturday, April 29th, join WJCT, Florida Park Services, and National Park Service, along with your favorite characters Clifford the Big Red Dog, Buddy the Bison, and Smokey the Bear, as we teach families how to “Explore the Outdoors” together. Explore the Outdoors: International Migratory Birds Day’s aim is to connect visitors with the idea that habitat is important for all organisms on Earth, including birds. The event emphasizes the importance of preserving existing habitats.

Families will have the opportunity to participate in various activities!

  • Highlight birds that are common to urban areas and can be found within Timucuan Preserve.
  • Increase public awareness and involvement bird conservation and go on family hikes (moderate and advanced options available) guided by Park Rangers to search for nature treasures, win a prize, and plant some beans for their home bird feeders.

This fun family event is free and runs from 10am – 2pm at Fort Caroline. Kids will have the opportunity to become a National Park Junior Ranger and more!

Parking is at a premium, so extra parking is available at the Resurrection Episcopal Church located at 12355 Fort Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32225.

We’ll see you there!
